BASICS The airport is located 20 miles (32 km) east of the center of Abu Dhabi. A tourist information desk located in the lobby is open 24 hours a day.
TAXI Taxi fare to the center of the city will cost about 60 dirham ($16) and the trip will take about 35 minutes. To avoid unpleasant surprises, confirm the fare with the driver before you accept the ride. Airport taxis are orange and white, while the taxis you hail in the city are gold and white.
DRIVER Car rental companies such as Alghazal will arrange to have you driven from the airport to the city. The ride is far more comfortable than in a taxi, but you'll pay for the extra comfort--about 110 dirham ($30).

RENTAL CAR All the major car rental firms have counters at Abu Dhabi Airport. If you plan to travel outside the downtown area, a rental car is highly recommended.
