Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
BASICS Hartsfield is located 10 miles (16 km) south of the center of Atlanta. A Travelers Aid station is located on the west cross-over bridge between the North and South terminals.
TAXI If you're carrying a lot of luggage, a taxi is the best way to go. You'll find them outside the baggage claim area. The fare into the city is about $16, and the ride will take 20-30 minutes.
TRAIN Atlanta rapid transit system -- or MARTA -- trains leave from stations near the North and South Terminal baggage claims. The trains are clean, fast, leave frequently (every 8 min. weekdays), and have plenty of space for luggage. The train will take you directly to the city center, near many large hotels, for around $1.50. Purchase your ticket at the station, before boarding the train.
BUS The Atlanta Airport Shuttle departs from the ground transportation area about every 20 to 30 minutes, from 7:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. It serves the major downtown hotels, and takes from 25 to 40 minutes, depending on your stop. The fare is approximately $10 one-way depending on your destination, and tickets are sold in the ground transportation area. The shuttle also offers more limited service to other sections of Atlanta and the surrounding suburbs.
