Johannesburg International Airport (JNB)
BEST WAY DOWNTOWN: Bus
BASICS
The airport is located 15 miles (24 km) northeast of downtown Johannesburg.
TAXI
Taxis are located outside the arrivals area. Fare to the center of Johannesburg is about 170 rand ($27). You have a choice of a regular car or a minibus, a 12-seater that will pick up other passengers. The mini-bus is about a tenth the cost of a taxi, but also much less speedy and less reliable. Regular taxi travel time to the center will be 25-35 minutes.
BUS
Private bus companies operate services to the city center and other areas. You can get information and purchase tickets at their counters in the international arrivals hall. The bus fare to the center will be about 25 rand ($4) and the trip will take about 35 minutes.
HOTEL SHUTTLE
Many of the major hotels have minibuses that will meet international flights on request. You will have to arrange this in advance, or call them upon your arrival and wait for service. The cost is about 150 rand ($23).
