Logan International Airport (BOS)
BASICS
Logan is three miles (5 km) northeast of Boston. It has an excellent ground transportation information service which can be called toll-free in the U.S. at 800-235-6426.
TAXI
The trip into the city is only three miles, but will seem much farther if you are stuck in a traffic jam in the tunnel. Taxis are plentiful outside the terminals. The fare to downtown will be $15 to $20 and will take anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
TRAIN
The MBTA Blue Line from the Airport Station is the fastest way downtown. Shuttle buses will take you from the terminals to the MBTA station on the Blue Line. From there it is only 7 minutes to downtown, State Street, and Government Center Stations. The fare is a bargain, at only 85 cents.
BUS
A minibus service will pick you up at the bus stops outside each terminal and take you to your downtown hotel. They run from 7 A.M. to 10 P.M. and cost $8.
WATER SHUTTLE
Enclosed, heated boats take seven minutes to cross the harbor from the ferry dock to Rowes Wharf. Free shuttle buses go from the airport terminals (Massport Bus Stops) to the ferry dock. The fare is $10 one-way and the boats leave every 15 minutes from 6 A.M. to 8 P.M. on weekdays. This is a reliable and fun way to get downtown, and perfect for the hotels along Atlantic Avenue. At Rowes Wharf you can catch a taxi to your final destination.
HOTEL SHUTTLE
The City Transportation shuttle service can take you to the major hotels in Boston for about $8. The shuttle departs from the airport from 7 A.M. to 10 P.M. weekdays and goes to the airport from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M.
