BASICS The airport is seven miles (11 km) northwest of downtown Miami.
TAXI Taxis are available outside each terminal. You go to a dispatcher, give him your destination, and he will direct you to the correct taxi. This is important because there are special taxis for short rides in the vicinity of the airport. The trip to downtown will take about 20 minutes. Typical fares are $12-15 to Coral Gables, $15-18 to downtown, and $20 -25 to Miami Beach. SHUTTLE Supershuttle vans operate 24 hours a day for pickup at the airport. You can book in advance, but it is just as easy to call them when you exit baggage claim. There will be a van coming to the road just outside of the terminal to pick you up shortly. Supershuttle vans service all areas in and around Miami. The fare to downtown will be about $8, and to the Miami Beach area about $14. HOTEL VAN Many of the major hotels provide a van service from the airport. Check when making your reservation.
