Belgrad Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG)

The airport is (16 km) west of the center of the city. This airport currently serves flights to Beijing, Cyprus, Australia and Moscow. For or from other destinations, or to make a connection, bus to the airport in Budapest.

Belgrade is right up there with Bucharest in the bad taxi category. Ignore the people offering a taxi in the terminal and go to the taxi stand outside of the arrivals hall. There is no set fare, but at press time it was about 60-90 dinars ($20 to $30).

We recommend that you head out to the taxi stand as soon as you can, so you're not left with just one or two drivers who will charge you a fortune when they see you have no alternative. Travel time to New Belgrade is about 20 minutes, 25 minutes to the center of Belgrade.

Yugoslav Airlines (JAT) operates a good bus service from the airport. The buses depart for the city center with a stop in New Belgrade (Novi Beograd) along the way. They meet arriving flights so the bus will leave soon after you have cleared customs.

Buses run about every 20 minutes. The fare is about 15 dinars ($5), and you pay the driver. The bus stops at the JAT City Terminal, and the Slavija Hotel, near the rail station. From either of these stops you can either walk or take a taxi to your final destination.
